EA Summit: Wellington is a one-day conference for people from across Aotearoa New Zealand who are interested in using reason and evidence to find the most effective ways to help others, and want to connect with people and organisations putting those ideas into practice.
This year’s Summit will be held on the 19th of September at Tiakiwai Conference Centre in the National Library of New Zealand, Wellington.
Whether you’re completely new to effective altruism or already actively involved, the Summit is an opportunity to explore big global challenges, hear from people working on them, and connect with others who care about having a meaningful impact.
Programme
The Summit programme will run between 9am and 5:30pm on Saturday 19th September.
There will be opportunities to explore a range of topics including:
- Global health and development
- Animal welfare
- AI safety and existential risk
- Cause prioritisation and decision-making
- Policy and advocacy
- Effective giving and philanthropy
- Using your career to have a positive impact
The day will include talks, workshops, and plenty of opportunities for discussion and networking.
Alongside the main conference, we’re planning community events in Wellington on Friday evening and Sunday, plus an optional post-Summit dinner on Saturday night.
Your Ticket
Your ticket includes conference entry, a vegan lunch and snacks, and access to Swapcard - our conference app.
Please note that attendance is subject to a short manual approval process. After purchasing a ticket, you’ll receive confirmation within 10 working days, at which point your card will be charged.
We want the Summit to be accessible to anyone seriously interested in these ideas; if cost is a barrier, please email us at summit@effectivealtruism.nz. We have a number of free tickets available and can potentially subsidise travel costs.
