The AI and Society Fellowship is a fully-funded, in-person, three-month program in San Francisco supporting scholars in economics, law, international relations, and adjacent fields to pursue independent research on the societal impacts of advanced AI.

• Fellows receive a $25,000 stipend, travel coverage, and daily meals, with opportunities to engage with leading academics and AI researchers. • The program runs June 1 – August 21, 2026, and culminates in a workshop where fellows present their research outputs, such as papers, blog posts, or lecture series. • Eligible applicants include professors, PhD/JD holders or students, and researchers with equivalent experience in relevant disciplines. • CAIS provides J-1 Short-Term Scholar visa sponsorship for eligible international participants.
