Our World in Data is hiring a full-time writer to make data and research on the world's largest problems accessible to a broad, non-specialist audience.
  • Compensation & contract: £80,000–£120,000/year (based on experience and location); full-time preferred, with flexible hours; part-time considered for the right candidate
  • Location: Oxford-based offices, but remote-friendly; international candidates welcome with working hours partly overlapping UK core hours
  • Responsibilities: Write clear, data-driven narrative articles across topics such as health, poverty, climate, and demographics; collaborate with data scientists on visualizations; and, over time, shape editorial direction and agenda
  • Hiring process: Rolling applications reviewed monthly; shortlisted candidates complete a paid writing residency (two articles) before any full-time offer is made — no need to leave your current role during this stage
