80,000 Hours is hiring up to three Advisors to have one-on-one career conversations with talented people working on the world's most pressing problems, particularly AI safety, biosecurity, and nuclear risk.

Core responsibility: Conduct 10–12 advising calls per week, helping people at pivotal career moments identify their comparative advantage, stress-test their assumptions, and determine concrete next steps
Strategic ownership: Depending on your background, take on a strategic function such as lead generation and outreach, impact evaluation, grantmaking, or special projects
Ideal background: Track record in research, policy, operations, entrepreneurship, or grantmaking, with deep knowledge of at least one priority area (AI safety, biosecurity, etc.) and strong analytical and communication skills
Compensation and location: Roles based in London (£105k–£125k), Washington DC ($150k–$180k), San Francisco ($170k–$205k), or remote; includes strong benefits such as private medical insurance, £5,000 mental health allowance, £5,000 self-development budget, and up to 14 weeks paid parental leave
