Effective Altruism Summit: Seattle 2026 will take place on December 6, 2026 in Seattle, Washington at the Rooftop on Railspur in Pioneer Square.
Effective Altruism Summit: Seattle 2026 is a one-day conference for people in the Seattle area who want to do more good with their careers, donations, and time. Effective altruism (EA) is a set of ideas about finding the best ways to help others and putting them into practice, along with a community of people formed around those ideas. Whether you're hearing about effective altruism for the first time, have been reading about it for a while, or have worked on a pressing problem for years, you'll meet people working on some of the world's biggest challenges, hear new ideas, and leave with concrete next steps.
Application Process
Applications will open soon—don’t miss your chance to attend! Here’s what you can expect:
Complete a short application (~5-15 minutes). We collect basic details about your interests and engagement with effective altruism (prior experience not necessary).
Our team will review your application. We aim to be in touch about your application regardless of outcome within 10 business days.
Register for the conference (~5 minutes). If you’ve been accepted, you’ll receive an email with a link to register and confirm your place at the conference. At this stage you’ll be asked to provide dietary requirements and additional logistic details, indicate whether you’ll be available to volunteer, and have the option of donating to offset event costs.
Have questions? Email us at [email protected]. If you want to attend but are unsure whether this event is for you, please apply anyway!
Who is the event for
EA Summit: Seattle 2026 is designed to bring together people in the Seattle area who are well placed to work on the world's most pressing problems, and the experienced community members who can help them get started. We're especially looking for:
- People who are new to effective altruism but are already thinking seriously about how to make a difference, and who are in a position to act on it through their career, research, entrepreneurship, or giving
- Students and professionals with skills and experience relevant to areas like global health, animal welfare, or risks from emerging technologies, whether or not they've engaged with EA before
- Experienced members of the EA community who want to share what they've learned, meet promising newcomers, and help grow the Seattle community
Space is limited, and we review applications with these goals in mind. We prioritize attendees from the Seattle metro area, and also welcome experienced community members from the greater Pacific Northwest.
Know someone who should be there? Many of the people who get the most out of Summits are there because someone in the community thought of them. If you know a friend, colleague, or classmate who fits the description above, please encourage them to apply and let them know they can mention you in their application. We'd much rather hear about a promising person through you than miss them.
Program
The agenda for EA Summits typically include:
- Introductory information on the core ideas of effective altruism and how people are applying them
- Talks and discussions on pressing global challenges and solutions
- Skill-building workshops
- Chances to meet people working in impactful roles and get advice on next steps
We’re in the process of designing the event program and want to hear from you! If you have ideas for speakers or topics, let us know through our speaker referral form.
Full event details will be available in the Swapcard app closer to the conference. You can also use Swapcard to message other attendees before the event. If you're newer to effective altruism, we especially encourage you to reach out to experienced attendees and speakers, who are coming in part to meet you.
