Hundreds of videos now exist of presentations on effective altruism as a general topic, or on one of its subdomains, but relatively few of them have transcriptions. This seems like a problem, as much of the EA community's intellectual progress has happened in long-form textual posts and forum discussions. If people want to discuss a long talk in depth, it is nearly essential that the talk have a transcript. Transcription software can get the basics, but it isn't perfect; many terms and references within EA talks can't even be parsed by existing software.
If you’re willing to put in some time (and learn a lot in the process), consider transcribing talks and posting the transcriptions to the EA Forum. Here's a step-by-step guide to publishing a transcript from the CEA YouTube channel, which is a great source to start with, though other talks might also be good to transcribe.
(Before you start to transcribe a talk, look up a unique phrase from the speaker and make sure it doesn't return any results. That way, you won't accidentally duplicate another person's transcription of the same talk.)
