Update: Temporarily Closing Applications from August 28th

We'll temporarily stop accepting new applications to EA Community Building Grants from the 28th of August. We expect to reopen applications around January 2021, though we haven't confirmed a timeline for this yet. This doesn't affect applications for renewed funding.

We’re sorry if this causes any difficulties for people who were planning on applying later this year. We're doing this primarily because we want to focus on improving other aspects of the programme over the rest of 2020, such as improving our assessment process and our approach to impact evaluation

If you have an urgent application for funding during this period, we may still be able to evaluate the application, though we'll decide this on a case-by-case basis. You're still welcome to apply for funding as usual before August 28th.
We're happy to talk to prospective applicants, and will keep the expression of interest form open for prospective applicants to reach out.

Community Building Grants Overview

Effective Altruism Community Building Grants is a project run by the Centre for Effective Altruism (CEA), providing grants of between $5,000 and $100,000 to individuals and groups doing local effective altruism community building. We have a particular emphasis on funding groups aiming to transition from being run by volunteers to being run by full-time paid organizers.
